Artist Bio

Pat Forrest
Artist, Artisan & Constant Creator

I started my painting journey in 1989 when ‘tole painting’ was popular.  I taught lessons for a while but then life and work took up most of my time.  I retired from ‘work’ in 2021 and finally got back to my art full time.   I live in rural Renfrew, where I never run out of subjects to paint or create from our beautiful Ottawa Valley.

In 2018 I discovered fused glass.  Once the decision to be a full time artist was made, it was the right decision to purchase my own glass kiln.  I have created a lovely line of wild birds and treed landscapes.  My glass art can be found at the ‘Gift Nook’ at my home studio, as well as some galleries around the Ottawa Valley. You can see a list of those galleries here (Where To Buy).

I also love to paint in watercolour and I teach classes at the new rec centre.  Visit www.PaintWithPat.ca for upcoming lessons.    My favourite subjects for most of my paintings are landscapes.  I paint either from a reference photo or by actually being onsite to paint live – otherwise known as ‘plein air’ painting.  I’m fortunate that we have many rivers & lakes, parks & trails and so much natural beauty in this area that gives me so much artistic inspiration.  Living an hour away from Algonquin Park is an added bonus.

My fused glass workshops are listed in the above menu and run from May to October.

If you’d like to know more about learning to work in fused glass, learn to watercolour paint, or to know more about plein air painting please email me at  theartfulpainter@gmail.com

Private commissions are always welcome.  If there’s anything specific you might like me to craft or paint for you please don’t hesitate to contact me any time.
